DAI payment gateway

DAI is the original decentralized dollar – overcollateralized, on-chain, and used across DeFi for nearly a decade. 0xProcessing operates as a DAI payment gateway built for merchants who want stablecoin predictability without a card network or correspondent bank in the loop. Settle every invoice in the coin and convert it into USDT/USDC.

Why accept DAI payments?

Soft dollar peg

Usually trades within basis points of $1.00, held by overcollateralization rather than fiat reserves. Quickly restored peg after the March 2023 USDC depeg.

A flagship decentralized stablecoin

Around $5.3 billion market cap as of May 2026, third-largest stablecoin overall. Pioneered the decentralized-dollar category.

DSR yield

The Dai Savings Rate currently pays approximately 8% annualized to holders, which keeps coin moving in DeFi and across exchanges.

Real backing

DAI is overcollateralized by ETH, wBTC, stETH, and a growing share of real-world assets governed on-chain by Sky Protocol.

Multi-chain

Available on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Base, and BNB Chain.

Predictable settlement

Fast and reliable finality on Ethereum and major L2s – from a few seconds on Base and Arbitrum to minutes on Ethereum.

What is a DAI payment?

This is payment is a transfer of the stablecoin from a buyer's wallet to settle an invoice. DAI is a smart-contract stablecoin: every unit in circulation is backed by collateral locked in vaults on Sky Protocol (formerly MakerDAO), with the peg maintained algorithmically and through governance.

For merchants, this gives you all the upside of stablecoin settlement – no chargebacks, no card declines, instant on-chain transfer – without exposure to a single bank issuer. If the customer's country has trouble with USDC or USDT for whatever reason, the coin usually still works.

Background on DAI

info usdt

Launched December 18, 2017, upgraded to Multi-Collateral DAI in November 2019.

Pegged 1:1 to the US dollar through overcollateralized vaults.

Backed by a mix of crypto collateral and tokenized real-world assets, which now make up a significant share of the protocol's collateral and revenue.

Available on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Base, and BNB Chain.

Market cap around $5.3 billion as of May 2026, ranking as the 3rd-largest stablecoin overall.

MakerDAO rebranded to Sky Protocol in September 2024; by May 2026 the protocol is actively migrating DAI to USDS, though the original contract still operates on Ethereum and major L2s.

Can my business legally use a DAI payment provider?

Yes, in most jurisdictions. The coin is valued for its on-chain transparency and overcollateralization, which makes it relatively straightforward from a compliance standpoint. We handle KYB and run real-time AML on every transaction.

How long does setup take?

Most merchants go live within a week. Payment links can go live the same day.

Will DAI stay around, given the Sky Protocol migration?

Yes, for payments. As of May 2026, Sky Protocol is migrating DAI to its successor, USDS. Coinbase delisted coin trading on May 4, 2026, and Binance ran an automatic backend conversion of DAI balances to USDS, so the coin no longer trades on those exchanges. But its contract keeps running on Ethereum and most L2s, and it stays active across DeFi and merchant infrastructure. That means accepting it through 0xProcessing remains fully available, with auto-conversion to USDT or USDC at settlement, removing any liquidity concern on the merchant side.

What do DAI merchant processors charge?

At 0xProcessing, a single processing fee is applied to completed transactions. 0% on payouts. No setup or maintenance fees.

Which networks does the DAI payment method cover?

Ethereum is the default. We also support DAI on Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Base, and BNB Chain. Other networks can be added on request.

How does DAI differ from USDC when accepting payments?

USDC is issued by Circle and backed by a bank deposit reserve. DAI is issued through smart contracts and backed by on-chain collateral. For merchants who want decentralized dollar settlement without banking counterparty risk, the second one fills that role.

Can I issue refunds in the coin?

Yes. Through the dashboard or the API, you trigger a refund to the original sending address. Because crypto payments are final on-chain, the refund is a separate outbound transaction, not a reversal – your accounting needs to handle it as such.
